Curtin University Dubai launched the Junction Performing Arts Excellence Scholarship in 2025, an initiative designed to recognise exceptional talent across performing arts, music, design and creative media. Introduced alongside the launch of Curtin Dubai’s new Design School, the scholarship strengthens opportunities for students who contribute to the university’s creative community and demonstrate strong artistic potential.
Developed in collaboration with The Junction, one of Dubai’s leading venues for performing and visual arts, the scholarship offers up to 50% tuition coverage for students who excel through a structured portfolio and interview-based selection process.

Eligibility criteria
To be considered, applicants must be actively involved in creative or performance-based activities at Curtin Dubai or within their school community. This includes participation in:
- The Curtin Theatre Club (in any capacity such as acting, directing, backstage support or production), Music Club, Artistry Club, and others.
- Graphic design, photography or creative media contributions, including designing posters, marketing assets or visual work
This ensures the scholarship supports students who meaningfully engage in the creative ecosystem.
Submission requirements
Eligible students may submit:
- A creative portfolio, which may include posters, digital designs, photographs, videos, recordings, performances or project samples
- A design portfolio for applicants to the Bachelor of Design (Graphic Design) program
- Portfolio details for review, which may be shared with The Junction team for professional evaluation
Shortlisted candidates may also be invited to an interview with a panel to discuss their work, creative process and future aspirations.
Award benefits
In addition to receiving the scholarship, the selected student will gain access to exclusive opportunities through Curtin Dubai’s collaboration with The Junction:
- A meet-and-greet session with The Junction’s team
- Complimentary tickets to selected productions at The Junction
- Specialised workshops for Theatre Club members as part of the partnership
- Training opportunities delivered by The Junction’s team for performing arts students
If the scholarship recipient is active in performing arts, they will benefit from these enhanced training and professional development experiences.

A pathway for emerging creatives
The scholarship aligns with Curtin Dubai’s vision to support creative talent across multiple disciplines. Whether a student is building a design portfolio, contributing to stage productions, performing music or capturing creative work through photography and media, the Junction Performing Arts Excellence Scholarship recognises individuals who demonstrate initiative, skill and artistic growth.
