Important update: MoHESR announcement regarding resumption of in-person learning
The Ministry of Higher Education and Scientific Research (MoHESR) has announced the resumption of in-person learning for all higher education institutions across the UAE, effective Monday, 11 May 2026.
Academic delivery updates
1. Trimester 2, 2026: Teaching will continue in hybrid mode, with on-campus classes resuming from Monday, 11 May. Students currently in the UAE are strongly encouraged to attend their scheduled classes face-to-face. Students abroad may continue to join online.
2. Semester 1, 2026: All teaching, assessments, and final examinations will continue online until the end of the term.
3. Schedules: Students should continue to monitor their university email for specific unit instructions from their faculty.
Campus operations & support
The campus will be open for normal operations starting 11 May 2026.
- Support Services: All departments, including Student Success, Finance, and IT, are available on campus to assist you.
- Student Life: On-campus activities and events will proceed in person, subject to Ministry guidance.

Important update: Transition to hybrid delivery for Trimester 2
Further to consultation with the relevant regulatory authorities, Curtin University Dubai will deliver Trimester 2, 2026 classes in hybrid mode starting Monday, 11 May 2026, until the end of the term.
Mode of delivery and academic continuity
- Hybrid learning: Students currently in the UAE are strongly encouraged to attend scheduled classes face-to-face on campus. Students currently outside the UAE may join classes online during this period.
- Assessments and examinations: To support all students, assessments and final examinations will be conducted online wherever possible.
- Lecturer guidance: Students are advised to contact their lecturers directly regarding specific assessment requirements and arrangements for their units.

Important update: Temporary transition to remote learning
The Ministry of Higher Education and Scientific Research has announced a temporary transition to remote learning across all higher education institutions in the UAE, effective from Tuesday, 5 May 2026, to Friday, 8 May 2026.
Mode of delivery and academic continuity
- Curtin University Dubai will move Trimester 2, 2026, teaching and learning to remote delivery during this specified period.
- Students are requested not to attend campus for classes unless specifically advised otherwise by the University.
- Students should attend classes remotely through Blackboard or other approved online platforms. Please follow the specific guidance provided by your lecturers to continue learning without disruption.
- Any necessary changes to assessment arrangements will be communicated separately to affected students.

Following the latest announcement by the UAE Government, Curtin University Dubai will continue to conduct all classes and campus operations remotely until Sunday, 19 April 2026. This decision remains part of a national effort to ensure the safety and wellbeing of our community.
Teaching & Learning Continuity
- Remote learning extension: All classes and campus operations will remain online until Sunday, 19 April 2026. The situation will be reviewed weekly, and further updates will be shared as guidance becomes available.
- Tentative return to campus: Subject to further direction from the UAE Government, the University aims to resume face-to-face teaching from Monday, 20 April 2026, following the two-week study break. Students are expected to return to campus once in-person classes resume.
- Transition period: To support students during the transition back to campus, classes in the subsequent weeks may be delivered in a blended mode to accommodate those unable to attend immediately.
Unit Enrolment
- Units are available for the remainder of the year, and standard University re-enrolment deadlines apply. Students are strongly advised to complete their enrolment as early as possible.
- Note for Trimester 2: This is particularly important for students selecting elective units for Trimester 2, 2026.
Examinations and Assessments
There are no changes to the previously announced examination schedule:
- Online delivery: Final examinations for all Undergraduate and Foundation units will be delivered online.
- Instructions: Students should refer to the technical guides previously sent to their Curtin inbox for specific instructions.
- Mid-term Assessments: Any invigilated exams, tests, or assignment deadlines scheduled during this period will be conducted online wherever possible. Please contact your lecturer directly for unit-specific arrangements.
All university support services remain accessible through digital platforms:
- Academic support: Students can access the Student Success Centre (SSC) for online study sessions and research guidance.
- Wellbeing: Psychology-led support, including stress-management resources, remains available.
- Library: One-on-one support for the UAE’s largest online library database is available remotely.
- Careers: Online career guidance and virtual employability sessions with industry partners are ongoing.

Following the latest announcement by the UAE Government, Curtin Dubai will continue to conduct all classes and campus operations remotely until Friday, 3 April 2026. This decision is part of a national effort to ensure the safety and well-being of our community.
Teaching & Learning Continuity
- Trimester 1 & Semester 1: All classes will remain 100% online from Monday, 23 March to Friday, 3 April 2026.
- Semester 1 Students: Subject to government direction, face-to-face teaching is tentatively planned to resume on Monday, 20 April 2026, following the two-week study break.
- Transition Support: Upon the eventual return to campus, the University may offer classes in a blended mode for a short duration to support students during the transition. Further guidance will be provided next week.
Examinations and Assessments
All invigilated exams, tests, and assignment deadlines scheduled during this remote period will be conducted online or deferred to a later date within the semester/trimester.
Students are advised to refer to the detailed communication sent to their Curtin inbox for further guidance on trimester-specific arrangements.
6 March 2026
Curtin Dubai continues to conduct all classes and campus operations online until Sunday, 22 March 2026.
Subject to further direction from the UAE Government, the University plans to resume face-to-face teaching on Monday, 23 March 2026. To support students during this transition, classes from 23 March to 3 April 2026 will be delivered in a blended mode. This flexibility is provided to accommodate students who may be unable to attend on campus immediately. Students are expected to return to campus when full face-to-face classes resume after this period.
Invigilated exams, tests, or assignment deadlines scheduled during the remote period will be conducted online where possible. If online delivery is not possible, assessments will be deferred and rescheduled within the trimester. Students should contact their lecturers directly for specific assessment requirements.
5 March 2026
Clarification has been received from the authorities regarding the recent MoHESR announcement on the early spring break.
In line with this guidance, Curtin Dubai will continue remote learning until Sunday, 22 March 2026, and all classes and campus operations will continue to be conducted online during this period.
We will continue to monitor the situation closely and will share further updates as additional guidance becomes available. Please note that, subject to improvement in the situation and further direction from the UAE Government, the University may be required to resume face-to-face teaching from Monday, 23 March 2026. Students will be expected to return when on-campus classes resume.
Any invigilated exams, tests, or assignment deadlines scheduled during this period will be conducted online where possible or deferred and rescheduled to a later date within the trimester, where required. Students are advised to contact their lecturer directly regarding specific assessment requirements.
All in-person on-campus and external engagements scheduled during this period will also be deferred to a later date. Revised arrangements will be communicated in due course.
