The university also marked a significant milestone with the launch of its PhD Program
Last month, Curtin Dubai hosted its biannual Women of Wisdom event, highlighting the journeys of four extraordinary women who have made a significant impact in their fields.
The panel included Professor Harlene Hayne, Vice-Chancellor of Curtin University; Thereshini Peter, Chief Financial Officer of GCC at Visa Inc; Banali Luthra Malhotra, Board Member and Marketing expert, who was previously CMO of RAK Bank for several years; and Hala Matar Choufany, President of HVS Middle East & Africa. This engaging discussion was moderated by Ms Maria Vitoratos and focused on key aspects of leadership, personal growth, and commitment to lifelong learning.
Professor Harlene Hayne emphasised the importance of listening for meaningful connections, stating, “As humans, we want to be heard and understood. When you learn to listen deeply and receive, rather than transmit, you can truly make connections and overcome challenges.” Thereshini Peter discussed the role of agility in leadership, noting, “Agile adaptability and resilience are essential. Embrace new industries and challenges.” Banali Luthra Malhotra encouraged attendees to stay curious and never stop questioning, adding, “Don’t go with the flow. Only dead fish go with the flow. Be curious. Ask questions. Raise your hand without being afraid.” Hala Matar Choufany emphasised the necessity of continuous learning, stating, “Unlearn and relearn; that is key.”
As part of the event’s theme of lifelong learning, Curtin University Dubai also marked a significant milestone with the official launch of its PhD Program. Professor Harlene Hayne, Vice-Chancellor of Curtin University, officially launched the program, underscoring the university’s commitment to advancing academic offerings and fostering research excellence in the region. The launch was officiated in the presence of Deputy Vice Chancellor of Curtin University Professor Xiaotian Zhang, Pro Vice-Chancellor and Academic President of Curtin University Dubai, Professor Ammar Kaka, and other distinguished guests including Professor Matthew Tonts, Provost and Acting Chancellor of Curtin University, Nigel D’silva, Director of Global Partnerships at Curtin University, Shweta Wahi, Managing Director of Operations & People and Culture, and Bilal Siddiqi, Managing Director of Academic Strategy and Director of Learning and Teaching.
The Women of Wisdom series continues to serve as a platform for celebrating the achievements of remarkable women and inspiring future leaders. Through these events, Curtin University Dubai encourages individuals to lead, embrace change, and pursue personal growth, all while championing the power of lifelong learning.
