Abdul Ahad Altaf, a 21-year-old graduate of Curtin Dubai’s Finance programme has recently received a 10-year UAE Golden Visa from the Government of Dubai for his outstanding academic excellence. He graduated from Curtin University’s campus in Dubai in 2021 with high distinction and an impressive GPA of 3.86.
“I’m delighted to have received the Golden Visa from the Government of Dubai. Thanks to His Highness Shaikh Mohammad Bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice-President and Prime Minister of the UAE and Ruler of Dubai and the UAE for this great initiative to support students and people from all key sectors. The fact that I was born in the UAE and grew up in this country only makes it more special,” said Abdul Ahad Altaf, BCom Finance graduate and an awardee of the 100 per cent Chancellor’s Full Scholarship Award by Curtin University Dubai.
“I am extremely grateful to Curtin University Dubai for having played a pivotal role in my success as they have equipped me with a quality education from one of the top 1 per cent universities in the world. I managed to score a GPA of 3.86 in my bachelor’s degree in Finance upon which my university nominated me for the Golden Visa. I am very thankful to the KHDA for their zealous efforts in encouraging students to perform at the highest level. It is an honour for me to be granted this prestigious award, and I take this as a stepping stone to more potential opportunities.”
Prior to joining Curtin University Dubai, Abdul secured several awards for academic excellence which strengthened his university application. He scored the Highest Mark in the World for Commerce in the IGCSE (2017), and in the Middle East for Accounting in the IGCSE (2017), followed by another award for scoring the Highest Mark in the World for Accounting in the International Advanced Level (2018), and Highest Mark in the UAE for Economics in the International Advanced Level (2018).
Followed by this, he went on to secure a 100 per cent Chancellor’s Full Scholarship Award at Curtin University Dubai and enrolled in the Bachelor of Commerce – Finance degree programme. Throughout university, Abdul held notable positions in the Student Council as Vice President in the 2019 academic year and then President of the Student Council in the 2020 academic year.
Professionally, he successfully completed the CFA Level 1 examinations in December 2020 followed by completion of the ACCA in April 2021 leading up to his graduation from university. Abdul is now a CFA Level 2 candidate and is pursuing a master’s degree in Financial Management at the University of Birmingham Dubai.
