Curtin University Dubai is proud to announce that its Bachelor of Engineering (Honours) in Mechanical Engineering has retained full accreditation from Engineers Australia at the Professional Engineer level. The accreditation extends to and includes the first student intake of 2030.
This reflects the university’s sustained commitment to delivering engineering education of the highest international standards and confirms that the course continues to meet rigorous academic, professional, and industry requirements.

Recognised under the Washington Accord, the accreditation supports the international recognition of graduates’ qualifications. Students can study an accredited engineering course in Dubai and earn a degree from Curtin University, ranked among the top one per cent of universities worldwide.
A mark of academic quality
Engineers Australia conducted a comprehensive review of Curtin’s engineering courses across its Australian and international campuses. The review assessed curriculum, teaching quality, student learning, academic leadership, laboratory facilities, industry engagement, governance, and quality assurance.
The panel commended the dedication and professionalism of Curtin Dubai’s academics, the enthusiasm and achievements of its students, its strong engagement with industry through the Engineering Advisory Board, and its culture of student mentoring.
John Curtin Distinguished Professor Pon Selvan, Head of the School of Science and Engineering and Director of Research at Curtin University Dubai, said the result reflects the university’s continued commitment to excellence in engineering education.
“We are proud that the review recognised the dedication of our academic staff, the enthusiasm of our students, and our strong engagement with industry,” Professor Pon Selvan said. “This achievement inspires us to continue preparing future engineers who will make a positive impact on society.”

Students engage with these developments through an internationally recognised curriculum supported by capstone projects, research, engineering competitions, technical workshops, and industry visits. The Engineering Advisory Board contributes to current professional insight through curriculum development, research collaborations, internships, and learning activities. Academics and senior peers also guide students as they undertake projects, competitions, and professional development.
