Application Process

Curtin University Dubai is currently inviting applications for its full-time PhD program from qualified and motivated candidates committed to impactful research.

The program offers a fully funded opportunity to eligible candidates through the Curtin University Dubai PhD Studentship, which is designed to:

  • enable outstanding candidates to undertake full-time doctoral study at Curtin University Dubai;
  • build long-term research capacity across Curtin’s global campuses through cross-campus supervision and collaboration;
  • advance research that is relevant to the UAE and the broader region, particularly in Renewable Energy & Net Zero, Psychology and AI, and the Future of Work.

The merit of your postgraduate research will be judged on your proposal. After submitting the expression of interest form below, the Graduate Research School will assess your eligibility to proceed with the next phase of the application process.

Your submission below should:

  • state your research topic
  • outline your research plan and objectives
  • show you have sufficient experience and knowledge in the area
  • demonstrate your research is significant and ethical
  • be accompanied by any cited references

Please fill in the following sections:

Provide a brief overview of your proposal describing the research topic in general.
Show the theoretical basis of your proposed research, describing what has already been written about this topic, why the topic is important and why it is worth researching.
Describe what you intend to accomplish and which questions your research will address.
Refer to an accepted research method, and explain how you will conduct your research and address your objectives. Include details on how the information will be gathered, analysed and reported, and specify any special equipment, software, data or other resources required.
Indicate a realistic deadline for each phase of your research.

Scholarship Details

1. Research Excellence Scholarship

This merit-based award is designed to support high-achieving research candidates:

  • Up to 50% tuition fee support.
  • Awarded to candidates demonstrating exceptional academic and research potential.

2. Fully Funded Research Studentships

Eligible candidates will be awarded a full scholarship, which includes:

  • 100% tuition fee support (for up to three years).
  • Annual living stipend of AUD 35,000 (for up to three years).
  • Research support funding of up to AUD 5,000 per year for approved project-related expenses.
  • Scholarships are awarded in rounds every six months.

Supervision

All candidates will be assigned a supervisory panel comprising:

  • A primary supervisor based at Curtin University Dubai
  • A co-supervisor from Curtin University, Australia, aligned with the candidate’s chosen research area

This collaborative supervision model ensures academic rigour, international research engagement, and alignment with Curtin’s global standards.
