We love to talk about our students and their achievements at Curtin Dubai. So this time, we want to highlight Jicky Johnson, one of our MBA (Global) students; a former intern of Curtin’s Marketing department and current intern at Deloitte Middle East.

She chose Curtin Dubai for her postgraduate degree because of our flexible class schedules and the supportive faculty, which made her feel at home. She very much enjoyed her internship with the Marketing team. She found it to be useful for her future career aspirations, “I was super excited when I was selected for that opportunity, and I am so glad that the team invests time and effort to help their students grow. During my internship with Curtin, they conducted virtual events focusing on personal development, interviewing skills, CV building and many more. Being a part of these events did give me some insight into various aspects of recruitment and tips on how to ace an interview”.

She believes in the power of networking and maintaining strong relationships with your teachers, peers, and colleagues (former and present). So being a social person, it is not a surprise that her favourite part of the internship was managing events, especially the Urban Art Fest which was her crowning glory. When asked about people she idolises, her immediate answer was her mother, and that she learnt a lot of patience from her. Now, Jicky wants to tell all young people out there that “You are the Best!” and specifically to Curtin students, “Talk to as many professionals as you can. Choose the best, and do not regret it! Make friends and create memories – these are as important as the certificate you get during your graduation. We are all working towards moving our career up a level, so let’s make sure that we work for it as professionally as possible. Along with that, if you can, always try to give a helping hand to someone in need, you’ll receive the reward for it at a later stage in life”.

We wish her nothing but the BEST in her life forward and it was our pleasure to host a student like Jicky!
