At a time when many students feel pressure to have their futures mapped out, Aida Jorati’s journey offers a refreshing perspective, one rooted in exploration, resilience, and the courage to redefine success.
Founder of gather, an online floral brand under Gather Trading LLC, Aida’s path into entrepreneurship was anything but linear. With a background spanning engineering, oil and gas, art, FMCG, and e-commerce, her story reflects the evolving nature of modern careers, where change is inevitable.

Aida recalls the moment she began questioning her long-term trajectory:
“I was imagining what I wanted my life to look like in five years,” Aida shares. “I realized I was craving more flexibility, more creativity, and more dimension than my corporate role was giving me.”
The idea behind gather didn’t begin with flowers, but with reflection. Despite enjoying her job, she recognised she had outgrown it. That moment of clarity became the turning point, pushing her to build something that couldn’t be achieved with the corporate lifestyle. However, the transition was not without its hurdles; moving from a structured environment to entrepreneurship required a significant “unlearning” process. She explains the stark difference in mindset between the two worlds:
“In corporate, you’re trained to be cautious; mistakes can affect millions,” she explains. “But as a founder, you need to move fast, make mistakes, and constantly iterate.”
This shift in mindset, from precision to experimentation, became essential in building her business. It required embracing imperfection, trusting intuition, and learning through action. When asked about the skills that shaped her journey, Aida points not to technical expertise, but to personal qualities. As she puts it:
“Ambition and resilience,” she says. “They go hand in hand.”
These traits have enabled her to navigate uncertainty, adapt to challenges, and continue building her vision despite obstacles. To customers, gather represents elegance and simplicity. But behind every bouquet lies an intricate process of decision-making.
Even the smallest elements – like the cards included in each order – carry significant thought. “That one card involves more than 15 decisions,” Aida notes, from paper quality and design to tone and messaging.
It’s a reminder that entrepreneurship often involves unseen effort, where even the smallest details are carefully curated to create meaningful customer experiences.

For students navigating their own uncertainty, Aida’s advice is both practical and reassuring, encouraging them to stay open to new directions:

“I’ve changed my path many times,” she says. “Change is inevitable, and it’s something you should embrace.“
However, she emphasizes the importance of balance. While exploring different paths is valuable, it should not become an excuse to leave things unfinished. Commitment and consistency remain key.
Her perspective reframes success as a series of experiments, encouraging students to focus less on having a perfect plan and more on taking intentional steps forward.
