Associate Professor Osama Dorgham has been appointed Head of School – Computing at Curtin University Dubai, bringing a career shaped by education, innovation, leadership, and first-hand experience of the technology sector.

Dr Dorgham’s journey in computing began at Princess Sumaya University for Technology in Jordan, where he earned a Bachelor of Science in Computer Science. He continued his studies with a Master of Science in Computer Science at Al-Balqa Applied University in Jordan before completing his PhD in Computer Science at the University of East Anglia in the United Kingdom.

From these foundations, Dr Dorgham built expertise across artificial intelligence, machine learning, data analytics, image processing, and computing sciences. As these fields continued to transform the way people live and work, his career grew across both higher education and industry, allowing him to approach technology from theoretical and practical perspectives.

Alongside teaching and research, Dr Dorgham worked across IT consulting, digital transformation, and IT service management in the UAE, Jordan, and Saudi Arabia, giving him direct insight into the challenges organisations face when adopting new technologies and the capabilities graduates need to contribute with confidence.

Dr Dorgham went on to hold a range of teaching and senior leadership roles, including positions at Skyline University in the UAE. Before joining Curtin Dubai, he served as Dean of the Prince Abdullah Bin Ghazi Faculty of Information and Communication Technology at Al-Balqa Applied University in Jordan. In these roles, he helped shape curricula, guide strategy, supervise postgraduate students, and strengthen the connection between education and a fast-moving technology sector.

His journey has also taken him into international academic collaborations through Erasmus+ projects and research grants across Europe. Working with institutions and researchers across borders has broadened his contribution to developing knowledge, sharing ideas, and advancing innovation. His work has received several awards and recognitions for its contribution to research and innovation.

Now, as Head of School – Computing, Dr Dorgham will guide the School’s continued development across teaching, research, and industry engagement. His combination of educational leadership and industry experience will help create opportunities for students to explore emerging technologies, strengthen their technical capabilities, and understand how their learning applies to real-world challenges.

For students already studying at Curtin Dubai, and those considering a future in computing, his appointment strengthens the expertise guiding their education across artificial intelligence, cyber security, information technology, and data analytics.

Dr Dorgham’s appointment begins an exciting new chapter for the School of Computing. We warmly welcome him to the Curtin Dubai community and look forward to the leadership, knowledge, and perspective he will bring to our students, colleagues, and partners.
