This July, the newly launched IEEE Curtin ASPIRE 2026 Global Challenge invites undergraduate students across Curtin’s global network, including Perth, Dubai, Malaysia, and Colombo, to collaborate on high-impact solutions for a sustainable future.
Jointly organised by IEEE Student Branches across four global campuses, ASPIRE 2026 fosters international collaboration, entrepreneurial thinking, and cross-border innovation. To address real-world problems aligned with the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals (UN SDGs), participants will work in diverse, multidisciplinary teams, gaining invaluable experience in global teamwork and system-level problem-solving.
The intensive, two-week sprint runs from 27 July to 9 August 2026, challenging student cohorts to move rapidly from concept to prototype:
- The Ideation Sprint: Teams identify a critical global challenge, conduct deep target research, design a sustainable solution, and map out a viable Business Model Canvas.
- The Build Sprint: Participants refine their architectures, build functional prototypes or software demonstrations, and craft compelling pitch decks for an expert judging panel.
Throughout this fast-paced sprint, global teams will receive direct guidance from IEEE mentors, world-class academics, and industry experts through dedicated workshops and masterclasses.
Beyond the competitive arena, the challenge empowers students to build essential leadership, communication, and project management capabilities while expanding their global professional networks. By collaborating across borders, participants gain practical experience in solving complex global issues through technological innovation, directly aligning with Curtin’s commitment to preparing graduates who can make tomorrow better.
Outstanding global teams will compete for major institutional honours, including Overall Champion, Runner-up, and Second Runner-up, alongside specialist awards celebrating SDG impact, technical excellence, and presentation mastery.
