For many, cricket is often defined by numbers such as runs, wickets, and strike rates. For Rachit Ghosh, a student at Curtin University Dubai, it represents discipline, consistency, and the ability to balance sport with a global education.
Rachit’s journey began at the age of eight as a simple hobby. By 14, that interest had grown into a clear goal: representing the UAE. This ambition guided his progress through competitive cricket and eventually brought him to both the international stage and Curtin Dubai.
Progressing to the national level required consistent performance across competitive platforms such as the Intra-Academy League and ECB Inter-Emirates tournaments. His efforts earned him a place in national training camps by the age of 15, marking an important step in his development as a cricketer.
His commitment remained steady even during periods when global events disrupted competition. Four years in the UAE Under-19 training camp helped him build the discipline, fitness, and mental strength required for high-performance sport. These experiences led to his selection for the UAE Under-19 tour of Bangladesh in 2024 and the Under-19 Asia Cup, where he competed against strong international teams, including India and Pakistan.
Alongside his sporting journey, Rachit is currently pursuing a Bachelor of Commerce, majoring in Finance and Marketing at Curtin Dubai. As a Sports Excellence Scholarship recipient, he demonstrates how academic focus and athletic performance can complement each other. The discipline required in sport supports his approach to study, while his academic learning strengthens his strategic thinking on the field.

At Curtin University Dubai, students are supported in balancing their academic goals with their individual pursuits. For Rachit, this means managing training schedules, travel commitments, and coursework, while maintaining consistent performance in both areas.
Reflecting on his experience, Rachit shares, “Stay disciplined, manage your time well, and be patient. There will be times when balancing both takes real effort, but staying organised makes a big difference. With the right mindset, you can succeed in both your studies and your sport.”
Looking ahead, Rachit aims to continue progressing within the UAE national cricket structure while exploring opportunities to compete professionally abroad. At the same time, he remains committed to completing his degree, building a strong foundation for future career pathways in business.
Curtin University Dubai continues to support students like Rachit through its scholarship initiatives, class schedule flexibility, providing opportunities to pursue both academic and personal goals. For more information, contact the Admissions team at admissions@curtindubai.ac.ae.
