Students from Curtin University Dubai’s Theatre Club have premiered an original stage production, The Dupont Deception, at The Junction in Alserkal Avenue, marking a significant milestone in the University’s performing arts initiatives.
Presented on 23 June 2025, the production was written, directed, and produced entirely by Curtin Dubai students, who also managed set design, lighting, stage transitions, and technical elements. The performance demonstrated the Club’s growing capability in creative development and production management, following its earlier staged work, The Lamp of Wonders.
The collaboration with The Junction forms part of Curtin Dubai’s efforts to provide students with opportunities to engage with Dubai’s performing arts community. Through this partnership, students gain access to a professional performance venue, mentorship from industry practitioners, and workshops that support the development of skills in acting, direction, production, and design.

In recognition of this partnership and its contribution to student learning, Curtin University Dubai has introduced The Junction Performing Arts Excellence Scholarship, awarded to aspiring creatives enrolling in 2026 onwards. The portfolio-based scholarship offers up to 50% tuition support and will be presented annually by representatives of The Junction.
The Scholarship aims to encourage students with demonstrated creative capability and an interest in pursuing pathways within the performing or visual arts.
