Curtin University Dubai, one of Australia’s most prestigious universities, in partnership with the Dubai Electricity and Water Authority (Dewa) announced that Dewa Business Cup Challenge 2020 is being held online for the first time.
The torunament is a unique opportunity for students from secondary schools across the UAE to face off in a challenge of their skills in solving business cases. Each week for three weeks, the students are provided with a business case related to well-known companies in the UAE along with a theme, with this year being Big Data.
The teams come up with their best business ideas, backed by financial and environmental analysis, which are then judged by a group of Curtin Dubai academics under the guidance of Daniel Adkins, CEO of Curtin Dubai’s Education Management Serivces Provider.
With Dewa as the title sponsor, the competition is also supported by the Research & Development Centre at the Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum Solar Park, Hunter Foods, Bounce Middle East, Khaleej Times, Uninest, Transnational Academic Group and BPG Max.
On November 21, the fourth and final case study will challenge the students to propose a novel use of Big Data in business before a panel of expert judges.
In addition to other prizes, the winning teams will secure a valuable opportunity to gain practical work experience through internship and industry engagement opportunities as well as funding for their higher education at Curtin University in Dubai.
