Teaching Assistant – Management

POSITION SUMMARY
The Teaching Assistant (Management) supports the delivery of foundation and undergraduate management units within the School of Business at Curtin University Dubai. The role is primarily teaching-focused, involving tutorial delivery, assessment and marking, academic support for students, and close collaboration with Unit Coordinators in Perth and Dubai. The role also contributes to immersive learning activities, industry engagement initiatives, and academic operations, in line with Curtin’s teaching and learning standards.
RESPONSIBILITIES
Teaching, Learning, Assessment & Marking
- Conduct tutorials, seminars, and small group learning sessions as scheduled.
- Review, contextualise, and deliver teaching and assessment materials provided by Curtin Perth and the School of Business.
- Assist students in understanding course content, assessment requirements, and academic expectations.
- Maintain accurate records of student attendance, engagement, and participation.
- Be available during published consultation hours to provide academic support, guidance, and feedback to students.
- Implement a range of effective and inclusive teaching methods to enhance student learning and engagement.
- Work collaboratively with academic staff and students in connection with teaching, learning, and assessment matters.
- Mark assignments, quizzes, examinations, and other assessments in accordance with approved marking rubrics, moderation guidelines, and university policies.
- Provide timely, constructive, and consistent feedback to support student learning and continuous improvement.
- Participate in assessment moderation processes as required by the School of Business.
- Support examination and assessment-related activities, including invigilation where required.
Academic and Academic Support
- Support the end-to-end delivery of units by working closely with Unit Coordinators to ensure teaching, assessment, and student support activities are implemented effectively.
- Oversee routine academic processes associated with assessments, learning systems, and student records, ensuring accuracy and compliance with University requirements.
- Contribute to the coordination of examinations and other scheduled academic activities in accordance with Curtin policies.
Collaboration and Engagement
- Work closely with Unit Coordinators in Perth and academic staff in Dubai to ensure consistency in unit delivery.
- Participate in academic meetings and teaching-related discussions as required.
- Liaise with professional and student support teams to address routine academic and operational matters.
- Support industry engagement activities such as guest lectures, industry visits, seminars, and experiential learning opportunities.
- Contribute to outreach, recruitment, and engagement activities for the School of Business, as appropriate
- Contributing to service activities that support students, the University, and the wider community.
RELATIONSHIPS
- Work closely with the Head of Schools – Business and Humanities at Curtin Dubaii.
- Work and coordinate with the Unit Coordinators at Curtin Perth.
- Work with internal and external stakeholders, including regulators, industry, employers, schools, students, parents, alumni, and prospective students.
QUALIFICATIONS AND SKILLS
- A master’s or doctoral degree in Management or a closely related field from an accredited institution.
- A minimum of one year of successful teaching experience.
- Demonstrated ability to develop rapport with students in a variety of learning contexts.
- Experience of working with a diverse range of students.Demonstrate ability to work independently and as a part of a team.
- Experience in assessment and marking using structured rubrics.
- Ongoing commitment to professional development.
- Demonstrate efficient time management skills and work practices.
LOCATION AND WORK ENVIRONMENT
- This position is a full-time on-campus role.
