POSITION SUMMARY
The role of a Program Coordinator and Head of School are similar, with the major difference being that of scale and breadth of programs. Duties include but are not limited to:
Program Management
• Oversee the day-to-day operations of the programs and liaise with Curtin Perth on all academic and operational aspects of the programs.
• Monitor and address issues related to lecture scheduling, ensuring classes run smoothly and without conflicts.
• Manage faculty teaching into the programs.
• Ensure programs meet accreditation standards and stay current with developments in the field.
• Conduct regular program evaluations to assess effectiveness, identify areas for improvement, and liaise with Curtin Perth to implement enhancements.
• Coordinate and oversee moderation processes for all Graphic Design units, ensuring consistency and fairness in grading.
• Develop and implement program policies and procedures.
• Coordinate course offerings, units, and schedules in collaboration with faculty and Curtin Perth.
• Oversee the overall health of the programs within the School of Business and Humanities.

RESPONSIBILITIES
Teaching and Learning
• Review and contextualise subject material received from Perth.
• Deliver lectures, seminars, tutorials, practical classes, demonstrations, workshops, and field excursions.
• Administer and grade exams, quizzes, assignments, and projects.
• Work closely with the Unit Coordinators in Perth and Head of School in Dubai to ensure cohesive unit delivery and alignment with overall program objectives.
• Participate in regular meetings and discussions with the Unit Coordinator in Perth and Head of School in Dubai to review unit content, teaching strategies, and unit deliverables.
• Ability to integrate real-world case studies and industry insights into the curriculum.
• Be available to meet with students during published office hours for additional support and guidance and provide constructive feedback to students to help them improve.
• Implement diverse teaching methods to enhance student learning.
• Work with staff and students in connection with teaching and learning issues.

Academic Leadership
• Oversee the delivery of the Graphic Design program.
• Foster an environment of academic excellence and innovation.
• Coordinate and participate in faculty meetings and committees.

Student Support
• Provide academic advising and mentorship to students within the program.
• Address student concerns, grievances, and provide support for academic success.
• Work with the academic departments on teaching and learning issues and academic integrity matters.
• Organise industry visits, guest lectures, seminars, workshops from industry professionals for students.
• Coordinate internships, practicums, and other experiential learning opportunities for students.
• Develop and implement strategies to support student retention and success.

Community engagement
• Develop and maintain partnerships with industry, community organizations, and other academic institutions.
• Promote the program through outreach and engagement activities.

RELATIONSHIPS
• Lead the teaching and engagements for the Graphic Design units at Curtin Dubai.
• Engage with the the Head of School – Business and Humanities, Director Learning & Teaching, and Unit Coordinators in Perth.
• Work and coordinate with counterparts at Curtin Perth.
• Work with internal and external stakeholders in Dubai.

QUALIFICATIONS AND SKILLS
• Preference for a doctoral degree or nearing doctoral completion in Design or a closely related field from an accredited institution. Alternatively, a master’s qualified senior industry practitioner with extensive experience from globally recognized firms.
• Expertise in industry-standard tools, including but not limited to Adobe Creative Suite (Photoshop, Illustrator, InDesign), as well as platforms such as Sketch, Figma, or similar.
• Experienced in teaching Graphic Design units such as Design Principles and Process, Design Theory in Practice, Design History and Culture, Typography, Creative Design Studio, etc.
• Demonstrated high quality experience in teaching and/or industry and evidence of continuing personal and professional development.
• Demonstrated ability to develop rapport with students in a variety of learning contexts
• Experience of working with a diverse range of students.
• Demonstrate ability to work independently and as a part of a team.

LOCATION AND WORK ENVIRONMENT
• This position is a full-time on-campus role.
• The role may entail travel to offsite locations for university engagements such as conferences, meetings, outreach, and partnerships to build the profile of the School of IT and Computing in the market
• Flexibility for remote work based on approved workload.
